Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire was the beautiful and stunningly fitting venue for the top annual photographic industry showcase, gala dinner and awards celebrations of the British Institute of Professional Photography.  Linda and I made the journey to this glittering occasion at Blenheim Palace to join the most famous and respected figures in professional photography from the UK and overseas, where I was presented with my Fellowship.  This is the highest distinction that can be conferred upon a professional photographer in the UK and I am deeply honoured to receive my Fellowship of the BIPP.  This latest, and highest,  accolade for me marks a significant stage in my professional career as Linda & I take Steve Walton Photography Ltd forward and continue to provide the very best in elegant, stylish contemporary wedding photography.

Paul & Philippa at Bolsover Castle

It seems fitting that my first blog entry should be given to such a great couple as Paul & Pip. The marriage ceremony took place at the tiny St Mary’s Church, Nanpantan. The reception was held at the rather more spacious and spectacular Bolsover Castle.

Bolsover Castle is the perfect venue. It has history, ambience, architecture, and drama. It is simply a wonderful place to be, especially with a couple like Paul & Pip.
The shot of Pip below was taken on the Nikon D3 with the Nikkor 28-70 lens.Blog1web

Bolsover Castle is maintained by English Heritage and the staff are very helpful and accommodating. The tower was left unlocked for us to create some artistic images. It was all very relaxed and good fun!

Strong, directional afternoon sunlight lends itself to black and white images. The architecture shows well with the exaggerated shadows that are characteristic of this light. I’m looking forward to autumn and winter. The months either side of high summer often give the best lighting conditions and add drama to images.STV_0227bwweb
